Cult Nails & Loaded Lacquer Polishes

Hey everyone! So I'm home for this afternoon due to unfortunate circumstances. I was on my way back to work when my car started to feel like it was stalling (even though I drive an automatic), or like my tires were losing traction. I didn't panic too bad, because we HAVE had some icy/snowy conditions, so I assumed it was just an ice patch. Well then my "engine malfunction" light came on and started flashing at me! I've never seen that, so I started freaking out. I pulled over, called out of work, had a panic attack, and then took it to a shop. Its still there, waiting to be tested so we can know what happened.

Which has lead me here. I had done my nails on lunch using one of my new Cult polishes, figuring I'd take pictures and post them later after work. So in the process of my panic attack, in order to calm myself down, as ANY normal polish addict would, I began taking pictures of my new mani using natural light. So thank goodness for polish and iPhones.

I have decided not to let such a scary incident effect my whole afternoon and waste it. So I have decided to post on here for you all! So something good WILL come of this! :)

Let's get right to it.

Alright. This is one of my first EVER Cult polishes and I'm SLIGHTLY disappointed. Now, not because its not a gorgeous grey, but because their "one and done" type slogan did not really come through on this polish. The first coat went on very streaky, and it definitely required two coats. This color is Boneyards, and the gorgeous glitter from Loaded Lacquer in Foolish Hearts. Boneyards is a very pretty deep blue toned grey, and was very easy to apply. No more than two coats were necessary. Foolish Hearts is a lovely glitter containing white, purple, and black hearts & round glitters as well as some rainbow rounds as well in a clear base. I always store my heavy glitter polishes like these upside down so I don't have any fishing problems. These photos were two coats of each polish with one coat of SecheVite.

All in all, I really do love both of these polishes. Boneyards may be my new favorite grey polish, and Foolish Hearts is definitely one of the best "Anti-Valentine's Day" polishes I've seen, while still keeping it girly and fun. I would MORE than suggest these brands/polishes to anyone!!

Well, thats all I have for you today! I probably will not be able to do another update until about Saturday night or Monday night. I know Sunday isn't going to happen, because I'll be busy watching the Superbowl! So until then, my dears. <3

Indies Galore!- Eighty4 and Different Dimension

Hello my loves!

So I had the day off today (yay??) due to snow (yes, again.) So I decided I'd watermark some of the images I already had taken and posted to instagram of a few mani's I'd done lately. So that's what I'll be posting today, so all of you can see them too. Even if you've already seen them, I'll probably explain a little more about what polishes I used and my thoughts on them and such! I also received most of my nail mail (still waiting on one more) so I took a picture of most of them and I'll post that here for you too!

Here are MOST of the polishes I've gotten.
If you have a question about any specific polish's name before I get a chance to swatch it, just leave your question in the comments and I'll be sure to get back to you! Just be sure to let me know which one it is. (Middle row, 4th one, etc…)
These are NOT all the polishes. I have 4 others I bought from Walmart, as well as two other Mentality polishes, two Gypsyanna polishes, two PolishedColors polishes, and three Cult polishes, so all of those will EVENTUALLY be swatched for your delight! :)

So let's get started with the manis! I'll give you some "throwbacks" first ;)
So this mani is OPI Mod About You with Essie's Shine Of The Times as a topper on the accent nail. I'm so super in love with Mod About You, I've literally bought two bottles already. It's the most perfect creamy pink that makes me feel like a princess. And of course, Shine Of The Times is a classic ;) You really can't go wrong with a simple, girly mani!

For about two weeks, I was sticking to simple mani's because I was waiting on all this nail mail and I didn't wanna fall super in love with a mani, and then have to either put off using my indie polishes or get sad taking off the mani. :( So I kept it simple. This is Essie's Pink About It and my accent nail is Wet n Wild Hannah Pink-tana. I used three FULL coats of Pink About it, because it goes on pretty sheer. It has a GORGEOUS golden shimmer to it, but its VERY hard to photograph. :( But Hannah Pink-Tana goes on really well, with FULL gorgeous coverage in two-three coats. It has a stunning holo shimmer to it that is seriously insane in the sun. You can head over to my instagram to see it a bit closer!

This was literally two nights before my NailVinyls from Linda (@teismom) came in the mail. I wanted so badly to do a chevron mani, so I literally cut up some painters tape in the chevron shape and used that. It went pretty well, but hand-cutting it was a HUGE pain. This is Essie Blanc, Licorice, and Bikini So Teeny. The silver is a combination of two polishes, one of which is my ABSOLUTE favorite silver glitter polish, Sinful Colors in Queen of Beauty. It goes on in about two coats for almost full coverage. You can't really SEE the spots where its not fully covered, so it works just as well for me. Over top that is a no-name polish that I've had for YEARS and the brand name has worn off the bottle. (I believe its a franken I made years ago.) I used a dotting tool for the dots.

So on to the most recent mani's and swatchessss!

For this mani, I used two Different Dimension polishes. The gorgeous hot pink is Give Me Love, which is a stunning, creamy pink with a golden shimmer. And as you can see pictured above, IT GLOWS IN THE DARK. I cannot tell you how truly excited I became when I realized this. It was like a kid on Christmas. The color I used on my middle and ring finger is called On Wednesdays, We Wear Pink. I am, of course, a DIE HARD Mean Girls fan so the name sold me before I even looked at swatches. Its a creamy light pink base with red and pink glitters, and goes on with complete coverage with about two coats. I used three, but that's because I always go for the overkill. It's a problem. No judging please. ;) But I really do love both of these polishes. They weren't super difficult to get off either. So big plus there! I definitely began a very dangerous love affair with Different Dimension polishes as soon as these babies were on my phalanges.

And here… Here is the mani that is going to push back my swatching.
This is, again, Give Me Love used on all of my fingers, and Different Dimension's limited edition Valentine's Day polish in True Loves Kiss. Only 50 bottles were made, and I got number 1. I cannot even tell you how excited THAT made me! :) Different Dimension has released 5 polishes for Valentine's Day to be sold individually, but I wanted them all SO badly, that the wonderful creator Missi put them in a set for me! She's the sweetest, so I definitely suggest you head over and check out her polishes at www.differentdimension.us
True Loves Kiss is one of my new favorite polishes. I can easily see myself doing this mani OFTEN. Its a clear base with pink hearts in different shades, circular glitters in varying colors and shades, as well as some stars and mickey glitters too! I turned the bottle upside down the night before I used it, so the glitters had PLENTY of time to get to the top/middle of the bottle, making application easier. I used two coats of seche vite to prevent any of the glitters from sticking up.

Here is Eighty4's Citrine. I bought this because I'm a November baby, and I normally HATE my birthstone. But once I saw this, I seriously loved it. This is such a gorgeous orange/gold glitter. It goes on with complete coverage in about two coats. I used one coat of seche vite on top. I could NOT stop looking at my nails when I had this on. I got so many questions and compliments on this polish. When the sunlight hits it?! Ugh. BE STILL, MY BEATING HEART.

And last but not least, this is Gypsyanna's But Daddy, I Love Him!
Okay. I saw a swatch of this polish on Bryanna's instagram. And I fell in love. That was it for me. I bought it. It was SO worth it. This three full coats (because I just kept wanting to plop more of it on, two coats will do just fine!) over Essie's Trophy Wife. Its got gorgeous silver stars and purple and blue glitters in a clear base. This is definitely super gorgeous over teals, even purples and blues! This was OFFICIALLY my first indie polish purchase EVER, along with Pointe Shoes and Tutus. I can definitely say I'm happy with my purchase!

So before I bid you farewell, I just want to remind you of the sale going on over at bornprettystore.com on their nail decals! Everyone should hurry on over and check it out before they're gone!

Well, that's it for tonight!
Hope you liked it, and feel free to leave any questions in the comments section! Or just feel free to leave me some love!!

BornPrettyStore Sale!!

Hey everyone!!! I just wanted to let all of you know that the bornprettystore.com is having an amazing sale on their nail water transferable decals!!! These are so easy to use and they look ADORABLE!!

There's such an immense variety of patterns and designs. Even as a beginner nail artist, these were simple to use. I've used these before, as a gift from a friend, and I never knew where she got them! Now I do! I would definitely suggest for ANYONE to go cash in on this deal!

Here's the link for you to go check them out!!!

I did get some nail mail, but not all of it! I had taken some pictures of one mani I've done already, but I probably won't get around to any serious swatching or posting any pictures until this weekend, due to working all week. =\ but when I do post with pictures... It'll be very picture heavy! So keep an eye out!

And don't forget that once I reach 500 Instagram followers, I'll be doing a giveaway! So tell all your friends! :)

Incoming- Nail Mail!

Hey everyone! I apologize so dearly for all the nail-less posts. There IS a reason for that, I promise.

I actually ordered about 36 polishes total since about early January. I already received my 4 Julep polishes, as well as my Gypsyanna polishes, and my Mentality nail polishes. Which brought me to about 28 polishes that I am expecting. I received my Eighty4 polish yesterday, and I also bought 4 polishes from my trip to Walmart. So I really do have a TON of swatches for you guys and a TON of nail mail to show you all, but I feel kind of silly showing you guys one or two at a time when I have so many gorgeous babies on their way to me on Monday. :)

I still only have one sad comment on my Questions post, and if you could, I'd REALLY appreciate you guys sharing my blog with your friends so hopefully we can get more than just one outlook on these questions (not that my one answer is beyond appreciated!)

So this isn't going to be a lengthy post, I just wanted to check in and let you all know I still love you all, and I appreciate all the support. I have decided that once I hit 500 followers on Instagram, I'll be holding a giveaway. I'm almost at 100, but I figured 500 would give me TONS of time to collect some great prizes. :) So just a distant heads up on that.

But! Thats about it. Again, lots of swatch spam & nail mail coming your way in the next two days, so be on the look out for that! We have not had water in my house for the past two days now, because of a pipe break in the area, so I'm just kind of feeling gross and awful, and I don't want to do anything except curl up in my bed and watch Gone With The Wind. Did I mention I'm running on two hours of sleep? Literally. Its pretty exciting. That's a lie. It's pretty horrific. So all of that combined has quite a bit to do with today's nail-less post and how lazy I've been about posting. So again, thank you all so much for sticking with me, it really does mean the world!

I almost always post pictures on my instagram before they'll have a chance to make it on the blog, so if you want a bit of a sneak peek, or if you'd like to get me to my giveaway faster, then you can follow me on instagram @missfancynails_xo

So thank you all again, for everything!

Questions for You!

Okay, so today's blog post is going to be some questions for my fellow bloggers & nail enthusiasts. But first... I did get some beautiful nail mail from the lovely Bryanna at Gypsyanna Polish on Tuesday, which I actually walked in the snow to check my mailbox to get it, but I didn't actually open the polishes until last night, because I was SO SCARED that they'd bust because of the temperatures. So I set my babies aside & patiently (not really) waited for them to be safely opened. I ordered Pointe Shoes and TuTus, and But Daddy, I Love Him! Both are glitters, and both are STUNNING. Unfortunately, because of the dreary weather outside, I haven't been able to get any really decent shots of the one I'm wearing, which is But Daddy, I Love Him! I have been pining over this polish ever since I first laid eyes on the swatch & now I finally have it. It should be sunnier this weekend, so I will be hopefully getting you guys some shots then. I also received some round gold/silver studs in the mail from amazon, as well as some colorful plastic bows, plastic pearls in various sizes, and some plain silver circle rhinestones that I'll probably send back, because I ordered rhinestones in various shapes. So hopefully that'll get fixed real soon. But I'm actually expecting about 15 more nail mail packages within the next week, so I should have PLENTY to share! :)

Anyways, back to the questions :) I do definitely consider myself to be a newbie, and I'd love to get some tips, and have some of my questions answered by anyone willing! I know that a lot of people are afraid to ask questions, because they're worried about looking/seeming stupid. So keep a look out because something you were curious about might be answered! And even if you have some other questions that I haven't asked, leave it in the comments & maybe it'll get answered! So let's get these questions started!

1. What are the different types of polishes and how can I tell the difference? Ex- crellies, jellies, holos, duochrome, etc

2. When you use bigger nail accessories other than rhinestones or studs, do save them & reuse them? Like the crowns or bows or skulls. Or do you just throw them away?

3. What do you consider to be the hardest nail art technique, and why?

4. For any stamping newbies, what plates are your favorite & which polishes do you use?

5. What are your top 5 MUST HAVE polishes? These are the polishes that you cannot imagine living without having in your stash.

6.  What are your nail care products that you use religiously? Ex- top coat, base coat, cuticle care..

7. What is your biggest nail problem that you deal with consistently and how do you battle it?

8. What polish, if any, have you repurchased because you've gone through the entire first bottle? (Not including base/top coats)

9. What are your biggest nail-aspirations?
Who/what makes you do the manicures that you do?

10. What is one nail art technique that you just can't do?

11. What's the one nail art tool that you just wouldn't be able to function without?

12. Who is one blogger/instagrammer that you think EVERYONE should be following?

Alright, well those are MY questions for now! I'd really really appreciate it if some of my more advanced bloggers could answer these questions, and any other questions any other newbie nail artists may ask!

I simply cannot wait to see the different answers everyone comes up with!

Thanks for reading!

Glam Polish Vegas Baby! and Nail Vinyls

Hey guys!

So I did indeed get a snow day today due to the 8 inches of snow the weather people are calling for. There's already about 2-3 inches out there now. I have already gone out in it with my goddaughter and I basically had to force her to come inside! She LOVED it! So after I share my mani with you, I'll give you guys some goddaughter spam! ;)

This manicure is probably one of my favorites that I've ever done. I actually did this manicure on Sunday, and I redid them the EXACT same way last night. Simply because its so freakin cute! I bought Glam Polish's SOON TO BE DISCONTINUED Vegas Baby! The description describes this polish as "a mix of bright hexes, neons, shapes and black and white rectangles."

I used SecheClear as my base coat, and then I used two full coats of OPI Alpine Snow. I then tried using one coat of Vegas Baby, but I could NOT stop myself from applying TWO MORE coats! I just kept wanting to put more and more of this gorgeous polish on my hands! After I realized my nails would never dry if I kept going, I stopped myself.

I used Nail Vinyls from nailvinyls.com made by the lovely Linda to create the chevron and the single chevrons. The pink that I used is Pool Party from China Glaze, and the yellow I used is Solar Flare from the Nina Ultra Pro line.

Let me just talk about these Nail Vinyls real quick. I have horrible OCD and literally NO PATIENCE. I've tried my share of tape mani's and every time I tried, I'd just end up pulling up my polish because I wasn't patient enough for my first layer of polish to dry. I had tried hand painting the chevrons on, but my OCD was screaming "ITS NOT EVEN!", making that a fail. So when I heard all the hype of these vinyls, I was honestly kind of hesitant. But I kept seeing SO MANY pictures of gorgeous manicures created using these things. So finally, I made the decision to purchase the variety pack that included one sheet of every shape of vinyl she offered. It was here within a few days and I immediately got to work.

This is the first manicure I did using Linda's amazing Nail Vinyls. I used Julep polish in Elle and Libby. Elle is the purple color that has a light shimmer, and the blue cream is Libby. These Nail Vinyls are seriously the easiest things in the world to use, and you can create such beautiful looks with them. I would suggest these Nail Vinyls to ANYONE who has even the slightest struggle with nail art, and I'd even suggest them to experienced nail artists simply because they really are just so easy and just so amazing.

If you'd like to purchase some vinyls for yourself, you can go to nailvinyls.com! All her vinyls are currently out of stock but she will be fully restocked on Friday, I believe 6pm. Follow Linda on instagram @teismom for all information and updates on her nailvinyls!

Well, that's all for today! Now I will leave you with some goddaughter spam! :)
Everyone- Meet Meghan. She's 2 and a half and she is my everything. She is already starting her polish collection (thanks to a heavy influence from me) and she loves having her nails painted! And raiding my polish collection. ;)

Hair, Hair, and more Hair!

Alrighty! So today has been an incredibly busy day. As I said before, I graduated cosmetology school, and my family refuses to forget it. So I was informed that today was a day of HAIR.

Grandma needed a haircut, and so did grandpa. Then my dearest mommy needed her hair colored AND cut, as did my aunts. So my mother & I loaded up & went to the beauty supply to get all our color needs. I made a stop to check out the Gwen Stefani collection by OPI, and sadly... I wasn't in love. I don't know, it just didn't capture me the way it has so many other bloggers. Maybe I'm just a crazy person (and that is a very real possibility.) They also had a large risidual amount of the Mariah Carrey Christmas collection left as well, and again, I wasn't in love. OPI just isn't killin it for me lately. I think it's because I've suddenly become overly obsessed with indie polishes & now that's the only kind of polish I want. But the reason for that is because until very recently, I've never actually owned an indie polish. And for me, indie polishes are all so different from what I can just get at my drug store or beauty supply.

Unfortunately, for awhile, I had lost interest in polish & purchasing any polish BECAUSE whenever I went to buy some, it was always the same classic collections from the same brands that I had already looked through & purchased what I liked. So at some point, I got so sick of never seeing anything new. And then... I discovered indies & they were the light at the end of a very dark polishless tunnel.

So I did browse the polish section at my beauty supply & immediately became uninterested. All I could think about was all the gorgeous indies I'd rather buy. But, back to my original train of thought. My mother and I purchased our hair color and went home. After we got McDonald's. :)

So I colored my aunts hair, and as she was processing, I did my moms hair color. Now, as a trained cosmetologist, I have a very difficult time with my mother who does not understand the laws of color theory. So when I tell her she cannot go from black hair to a light brown without lots of lightener, she still has issues believing me. She decided today she was going to purchase hair color with red in it, and she expected it to turn out a certain way. INCORRECT. As she processed, I cut my grandpas hair & rinsed my aunts hair and cut it. 2 down, 2 to go. My mom got her hair rinsed, realized her regrowth (roots) had turned bright red and the rest was still black, and asked me to fix it. So I found some of her usual color in our color closet, and got it on her head. As she processed AGAIN, I did my grandmas cut. 3 down, 1 to go. Finally, my mom's hair was done & I went ahead & cut it. Well. My current manicure (which I shall show you in tomorrow's post!) has a lot of white. Needless to say, I had some staining issues from rinsing her hair. My white polish was now brown. :(

After I finished all that & resolved to re-do the same manicure because I just love it so much, I went to my friend's house to put some pink highlights in my hair. :)

And if you follow me on Instagram, you saw the picture I posted of my goddaughter getting a little pink in her hair too! ;) Her mom was more than fine with it, promise! But in the process of doing my own hair, my polish began chipping horribly. So I just took it all off. Big mistake before rinsing my own pink color out. Because my natural nails got stained BRIGHT PINK. I immediately ran home & buffed those babies out. They're now perfectly polished in the same manicure they had on them before all the hair-scapades of the day.

So needless to say, today has been busy. I really wish I had gotten a chance to put up some polish pictures for you guys today, but it'll happen for sure tomorrow. :) pinky swear! I'm actually not working tomorrow because we're supposed to get like, a bajillion inches of snow where I live, so the private day school I work for closed! Yay for a free day off! :) So you'll definitely get some polish pics tomorrow! Maybe even a bit of goddaughter spam too! :)

Anyways, thank you for reading & bearing with me through my unnecessary rant. :)

Hi, My Name is Krystal and I am addicted to nail polish.

Alright. So here's the deal. As I stated in the title of this post, I am indeed addicted to nail polish. I love it. I love all kinds of nail polish, although I can't say I'm completely versed in the "types" such as cremes or jellies or anything like that. I'm learning though! Nevertheless, I love me some polish. I have well over 200 bottles and as much as I'd love to swatch every single one of them for you so you know what i'm working with, I just don't think I have enough acetone for all that… plus… Ain't nobody got time for that. ;)

So! I'll be posting as much as I can, and as often as I can. I actually am a full-time preschool teacher assistant (so glamourous!) and I work 9-6:30 every day. I do NOT do my nails every night, but I usually do them every other night, so hopefully I'll have things to share with you every day or at least every other day. So I do ask you to bear with me. :)

Firstly, I'd really like to tell you a bit about myself. I know that's totally not why any of you are really here (we're all REALLY here for the polish!) but I just figured maybe it'd be nice to know a bit of background. Maybe. Anyway!

My name is Krystal, and I am currently 22 years old. I graduated cosmetology school in 2013 from Regency Beauty Institute. As you all read in one of my previous paragraphs, I do NOT currently work in the cosmetology field. I went to school, loved doing it, graduated, and then hated doing it. Now, that may have had something to do with the fact that on my only days off, everyone I know and their cousins all decided they wanted me to do their hair for free and ON MY DAYS OFF instead of coming in to the salon. So. I said "I quit!" and went back to working with munchkins (who actually like throwing blocks at me daily, but hey. its part of the job.) I'm still not sure I love what I do, but I'm working on figuring that out. :) I'm #teamsingle currently and I'm okay with that because…. Well. Because I have my nail polish. :) So, I guess thats enough of an "about me" for now. If you have any questions, just leave it in the comments and I pinky promise I will get back to you!
